We've all been given advice that we just don't want to take. Advice that we know deep down we should follow. Advice that has our minds screaming "yes" and our hearts crying "no".
This advice might save you from your fall. Save you from tripping and landing face first in a pile of crap. Save you from your rock bottom.
I'm going to let you in on a secret though... Sometimes you have got to hit rock bottom.
Sometimes that's what's best for you. Occasionally, that's what it takes to find the person you want to become. You have to lose everything to gain the world.
It's okay to follow your heart. It's okay to decide that you don't want to follow someone's advice. It's okay for you to decide what's best for yourself and not letting everyone else do it for you.
Hitting rock bottom will suck. I won't lie to you and tell you that it's something that's easy. I won't tell you that making your way back up isn't a pain that you'll wish you'd never endured.
But hitting rock bottom can lead you to places you would only imagine. You find out so much more while you're struggling, than while you're coasting through life. It's a place of discovery that you only reach when you fall on your butt.
You can find out who you are. You can find out what and who you believe in. You can find out what you stand for and what you stand against.
You can find out what kind of person you are. In your darkest moments, you find the purest version of yourself. You see what you're really made of.
So, sometimes you have to slide a little to climb. You have to fall to fly. You have to hit the bottom to reach the top.
What I'm trying to get at it is... Sometimes rock bottom is the best place for you to be.
Sometimes it's worth it. Following your heart and being hit with reality can better than listening to someone's advice and not learning the lesson for yourself. Sometimes you need it to grow and become the person you're meant to be.
So, take the risk. Follow your heart. Make your own decisions. And if you fall... Learn from it.
